This paper uses 2003-04 Household Expenditure Survey data to suggest dependency percentages for survivors in different types of two-parent family, where one of the parents dies, and for one-parent families, where the parent dies. These percentages may provide a starting point for assessment of damages for economic loss by survivors of a deceased earner.
